And Miami and its citizens benefit from all the attention we get on film and television. “A 2009 study for the state film office found that for every dollar a production spends in Florida, it generates another 95 cents of indirect spending as the studio dollars flow through the economy. It found that when subsidies were at their peak, the production industry contributed more than $2 billion a year to Florida’s economy.
